The Box of Shocks is exactly what it says it is – a box full of tricks to shock and surprise! Whether you’re pretending to squirt your victim with ketchup, draw on their clothes or shove a pen through your hand, it certainly appeals to children’s love of doing things that seem a bit naughty (and the adults too!).

My kids are 5 and 4 and really enjoyed finding out what each thing in the box did – it was packed full of things to do, and although they started grabbing everything out and fiddling with it all before reading the instructions, expecting me to know what to do with everything, I eventually convinced them it was better to try and find out how we were supposed to do them! It didn’t take long for us to work each trick out, and for the most part they were easy for the kids to do themselves. A couple were a little fiddlier, but would be no problem for a slightly older child, and as the game is aimed at eight plus, it seemed perfectly suited to that age, both in ability and in love of everything gross and shocking!

I don’t know if it’s a game my kids will come back to a lot as they have pretty much exhausted them on each other, but they do still enjoy showing friends certain favourite tricks and surprising someone new, so I would say they have enjoyed playing with it, and doesn’t make any mess, which is also very appealing!
