I love Sylvanian Families. Ahem… I mean,my five year old daughter Iris loves Sylvanian Families. Well, really, I do love them. They are one of those toys, like Lego, that you remember fondly from your own childhood and try to encourage your children to get into to. Luckily with Iris my persistence seems to be paying off, and with her little brother Dexter too, who currently loves the game ‘all the Sylvanians fall off their bikes’, meaning they all end up in a big pile while I tut and try to put the shop back together.

The Chocolate Rabbit Family is the newest addition to the Sylvanian community. On the Sylvanian Families website it just describes them as ‘Includes Mother, Father, Girl and Boy. They have pretty brown ears.’ which pretty much sums it up. Really though, how cute is that? They DO have pretty brown ears! In my opinion, the beauty of the Sylvanian Families toys is twofold – firstly it’s that they are genuinely lovely toys. They are well made, have great attention to detail and just look gorgeous. Secondly though, it’s their simplicity. What made them appealing twenty years ago still makes them appealing now and it’s a wonderful thing that they haven’t moved away from their original toys too much. The style is very much their own – it’s whimsical and sweet and doesn’t try to be anything different. I admire a brand that is true to itself in that way and still manages to be successful – the quality of the products speaks for itself.

Anyway, the rabbits have soon made friends with the rest of the town and really couldn’t have come at a better time as we were starting to get a bit worried about a lonely baby rabbit who needed a family and the Chocolate Rabbits have adopted him as their own. I mean… Iris was getting worried… oh dear, I think I better leave this here!
