I’m sure I wasn’t alone in struggling to choose gifts at Christmas for friends and family who have everything. Internet shopping has made things a lot cheaper so people tend to be buying all year round and don’t need anything for Christmas. Plus, I always feel practical presents are boring and challenge myself every year to find something unique. After a lot of searching, this plaque found me.
I absolutely love the sentiment. The original one on the website said ‘A family’s love is tied together with heartstrings’ but the creator has adapted her idea to meet the needs of any family. For me it was ‘A Grand-parent’s love’. With two new babies just being born into the family, I knew my mum would love this. When it arrived safely in the post I was absolutely thrilled with it. The sentiment was perfect and so personal and I knew it couldn’t be found in the shops, so I had won my unique challenge (well, my husband still got socks, so you win some you lose some, haha).
The quality was great and it definitely looks worth its price tag of £11. You can add more names for a little bit extra, as I found out
when I ordered a ‘Family’ one for my sister-in-law. Each child’s name is written on a wooden heart and attached to the plaque with string to represent the heartstrings. The detailing is beautiful with the dotted writing, a border and the cute little embellishments. It makes all the difference when a product like this is finished well. It makes it look professional as well as having a personal touch.
It’s very sturdy for a handmade plaque, as we found out when my 2 year old tried to take her name off it to play with. Thankfully, it stayed put and the plaque is now safely on the wall out of reach. My parents love being grand-parents so it has pride of place in their house. Now I just need something for my wall, so hubby may be getting a few hints for Valentine’s Day, or Mother’s Day, or my Birthday…..
