I came across a great organisation this evening when it popped up on my facebook feed. Pass It On is a small but incredibly worthy organisation based in Thurrock who help out families in need by passing on baby and children’s items that are donation to them.

Here’s a little bit of info from founder Claire about what they do:

“I decided to set up Pass It On in January this year.  Christmas made me think of all the children out there who didn’t receive many (if any) Christmas presents.  My children were surrounded by presents and I felt I needed to do something to help the children who were less fortunate.  I then decided to set up a service to rehome toys, clothes and baby equipment to children and their families who are struggling in the Thurrock area.  As of today, I have also decided to take in toiletries (adult and child) and cleaning products.

I run the service voluntarily, with help from my family and Dens Playden, a toddler group based in Grays.  Dens is my designated drop off and collection point twice a week (details on the leaflet).  There isn’t any money involved, everything is donated then rehomed for free.  I currently spend a minimum of 20 hours per week running the service, which I fit in around my two small children (aged 1 and 3) and my husband.

I want to help as many children and their families as possible.  Anyone that is struggling is eligible for the help of Pass It On.

To give you an idea, I have already rehomed lots of items which include:

  • 4 cots/cot beds
  • Numerous prams and pushchairs
  • Baby walkers
  • Baby play mats
  • Over 60 sacks of childrens and baby clothes
  • Moses baskets
  • Baby baths
  • Potties
  • Toys
  • Books
  • Baby and single bedding
  • Stair gates
  • Baby slings
  • Travel cot
  • Bottles
  • Sterilisers

Pass It On is a totally non profit service, no money involved whatsoever.

The response so far has been amazing.  It’s wonderful to be able to help, so many children and their families.

I am struggling to store the donations, so if anyone is getting rid of a shed I’d be very grateful for it!”
