It’s a real honour and great to be recognised. The classes are fun and my pupils are learning lots.’ ‘It’s wonderful to see the children making such excellent progress and to see them chatting in French and Spanish, so confidently, is a real bonus’, she added.
Sophie lives with her partner and 3½ year old son Noah in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex. Her passion for languages was first ignited from a very early age when from the age of 2 Sophie spoke a mix of French and Alsacien, the local dialect, which helped her speak with relatives who didn’t speak French. Sophie decided to study languages at University, studying Japanese, which in turn then took her on her travels. She lived and worked in Japan for a year before then later on travelled and lived in Bangalore, India. Sophie loved how different languages all sounded so very different and from then on, languages were to play a pivotal role in Sophie’s life.
After completing her studies, Sophie came to live in London and worked as a corporate sales manager for many 4 & 5 star hotels. In the Summer of 2013, whilst on maternity leave, Sophie started to seek alternative work as her current job meant a daily commute in and out of London. She became a licensee for La Jolie Ronde and started teaching French, to a few local children. Over time, word got around how good Sophie’s classes were and she was subsequently contacted by more parents who wanted their children to learn French. As numbers steadily increased, Sophie started teaching after-school classes in more schools and this prompted her to make the decision to employ several tutors to meet the growing demand. In the Summer of 2015, due to demand, Sophie expanded her business and began to offer Spanish classes which was taught by her team of fluent speaking Spanish tutors.
General Manager of La Jolie Ronde Steve Baker said: “Sophie was chosen for her professionalism and enthusiasm for teaching, which is evident in all her classes. She has a wonderful method of teaching resulting in her pupils eagerness, dedication and respect for her. Sophie is truly inspirational and her incredible commitment, dedication and drive has meant so many children over the last 3 years have benefited. Sophie is without doubt a great ambassador for La Jolie Ronde”.
